I-74 Bridge Construction Worker Tests Positive For COVID-19 Coronavirus

QUAD Cities - Construction work on the I-74 Bridge is suspended for the remainder of the week after a worker tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus.

KWQC TV6 reports Lunda Construction suspended the project and that was confirmed by the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Project Manager for the project Danielle Alvarez says the health and safety of everyone on the project is a priority. Work on the project is continuing but they made adjustments to create a safer environment for everyone. Iowa DOT and the contractors have been taking steps and each contractor is responsible for implementing safety measures following state and federal guidelines.

Lunda Construction is planning to start work on the project again next week. It is too soon to determine if this will impact the construction schedule. The company is monitoring the construction sites and crews and will make adjustments as needed.
