One person has died following a crash involving a bike and a vehicle in Rock Island.
Police say around 6:30 Wednesday evening, officers were called to a single-vehicle crash involving a bicyclist near 38th Street and 24th Avenue. Investigators say the driver and bicyclist were both northbound on 38th Street when the accident happened.
The bicyclist, identified as 67 year old Mark Broendel, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. On Thursday, Coroner Brian Gustafson said Broendel's preliminary cause of death of was multiple traumatic injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation by the Rock Island Police Department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
