(Dubuque, IA) -- Closing arguments will be heard in a Dubuque courtroom today in the first-degree murder trial of Tyler Dazey. He's the man accused of killing his mother and dog because he believed they were witches.

Both sides rested their cases yesterday after testimony about the autopsy performed on Jennifer Dazey.

State Associate Medical Examiner, Dr. Kelly Kruse testified, "there were a total of 13 sharp force injuries, including cutting wounds and chopping wounds to the head."

Dazey is refusing to take part in the trial citing his beliefs as a Freemason and Jewish Nazarite.

The jury is expected to begin deliberations after closing arguments.
