The Main Street Iowa program is part of the Iowa Economic Development and is dedicated to economic growth, community improvement, and historic preservation. On March 5th, Main Street Iowa recognized seven Iowa communities for setting new benchmarks for private investment in their respective communities. Those seven communities include:
- Albia - $2 million
- Colfax - $10 million
- Grundy Center - $3 million
- Manning - $10 million
- Marion - $50 million
- Monticello - $5 million
- Newton - $20 million
The private investment benchmarks are based in part on the overall population of the community. There are 53 communities in Iowa accredited by the Main Street Iowa program.
