(Davenport, IA) -- Two suspects on trial for a double homicide in Davenport will now be tried separately.

A judge ended the dual-trial for Devon Braet and Amanda Blake yesterday after a witness testified that Braet was a violent guy who shoots people.

Braet's lawyer argued he couldn't get a fair jury verdict after that statement.

The judge agreed, postponing Braet's trial while continuing Blake's trial with the current jury.

Both are facing first-degree murder charges for the deaths of two people prosecutors say they then tried to cover up by starting a fire at the crime scene.
