Study: Iowa Among Top 10 States for Worst Flight Disruption Rates

(Iowa) -- A new study ranks Iowa among the top 10 states with the worst flight disruption rates.

Online travel insurance marketplace SquareMouth ranks Iowa as the ninth worst state in the nation for flight disruptions. The study looked at data from July of 2024 to June of this year, and found that during that time, 23.3% of Iowa flights were disrupted, with 21.7% of those delayed and 1.6% of flights canceled.

West Virginia ranked first in the nation for flight disruptions. The study finds that the national average travel insurance payout for a trip cancelation is $5,511, and the average payout for trip interruptions is $2,707.
