Illinois Schools Still Have 25% Chronic Absenteeism Rates Post-COVID

(East Moline, IL) -- A quarter of Illinois school students are still missing school on a regular basis five years after the COVID-19 pandemic began.

A new report from Advance Illinois also shows that locally, East Moline chronic absenteeism is up 9% during that period.

Educators say the COVID-era message of stay home if you feel the least bit sick needs to be reversed to get kids back in the classroom.
