(Davenport, IA) -- Quad Cities tourism leaders say the government shutdown is partly to blame for a drop in visitors to the area.

Attendees at Visit Quad Cities annual gathering Thursday learned that visitors numbers fell about 10% last year to 6.1 million.

Visit Quad Cities President Dave Herrell says the National Intercollegiate Flying Association competition, and two collegiate women's golf championships being held here next year should help boost numbers.
