(Rock Island, IL) -- The city and Augustana College held a meeting Tuesday to show off the proposed Southwest Rock Island Wetlands land and water preserve.
The 550-acre project at the Milan Bottoms would protect wildlife too.
Augustana students have been conducting surveys and mapping the area.
Soon they'll install equipment to catalogue wildlife as well.
The project was started after concerns over the effects of a new gas station and dispensary at I-280 and Illinois 92.
