(Iowa) -- The National Guard Association of the United States has presented Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds with its highest honor.
On Sunday, August 30th, Reynolds received the Harry S. Truman Award for Distinguished Service in Support of National Defense during the organization's 148th General Conference and Exhibition in Indianapolis. The Iowa National Guard Officers Association nominated Reynolds for the award for her support of veterans and military families.
Reynolds is the co-recipient of this year's award, along with New Hamphire U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who was recognized in July. Past recipients of the Harry S. Truman Award include President Ronald Reagan, President Richard Nixon, President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, Senator Lindsey Graham, Bob Hope, Senator Bob Dole, among others.
