Enrique Marquez Jr., 25, admitted in a plea agreement that he bought the assault rifles used by Syed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, in the 2015 attack that left 14 dead and nearly two dozen injured. Farook and Malik were later killed in a gunfight with police. Marquez was a straw buyer for the guns, because Farook's Muslim appearance would have aroused suspicion at the gun store. Marquez had converted to the Muslim faith. Marquez also admitted to plotting with Farook in 2011 and 2012 to massacre college students and motorists, though those attack never happened.
