There are only three power plants in Illinois that still burn Illinois coal. Coal production fell in the state for the second year in a row in 2016, to 43.3 million tons. Jobs in the industry fell last year to 3,600, the lowest since 2010 and far below the 10,000 Illinois coal miners employed in 1990.
Therefore the executive actions taken so far by President Trump should and will add jobs to the state of Illinois.
