Ann Richards was the last Democratic governor of Texas. She was elected in 1990, 27 years ago. She may well be the LAST Democratic governor of the state. For months the Democratic party leaders of Texas have been searching for an opponent to incumbent Governor Greg Abbott. He is the latest Republican to hold the post. The Democratic party cannot find a candidate. Part of the reason is the fact that Governor Abbott has already amassed a $41 million dollar campaign fund. One party government, while interesting to watch, is not good for the nation.
