A Davenport police officer was shot for interrupting a drug deal yesterday afternoon. Most of us think our jobs are difficult, but we don't get shot for doing them.
The felon with a gun that the officer attempted to stop was taken into custody. The trial will be replete with his horrible childhood, resultant dependence on drugs, and somehow it will not be his responsibility.
Alderman Ray Ambrose is correct. The justice system needs to hold the bad guys responsible.
