Illinois DOT Is Looking For Snowplow Drivers

ILLINOIS - We may have just turned the calendar to fall but we all know that the first snowfall isn't all that far away.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is looking for snowplow drivers for the upcoming winter season. They hire temporary snowplow drivers every year on a full-time or on-call basis through their Snowbird Program.

Snowbirds are paid $20.50 hourly and applications are available for those in Lee and Jackson Counties. Workers bust be ready if they are called in during emergency conditions and that includes nights, weekends and holidays.

All applicants must have a commercial driver's license and submit to a criminal background check. Applicants must also go through drug and alcohol screening and pass a physical and a vision test.

Drivers are also needed in rural areas and farmers and those in the agricultural sector are encouraged to apply.
