QUAD CITIES - It is a big day for 100 veterans taking part in the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities' 50th flight.
KWQC TV6 reports that the veterans left Moline around 7 a.m. for Washington D.C. For many, this was their first trip to our nation’s Capital. The trip is at no cost to the veterans and each trip costs between $80,000 and $100,000. Donations pay for the flights.
The veterans are spending the day visiting monuments and memorials. They will be returning around 7 p.m. The public is invited to the Quad City International Airport to give the veterans a welcome home celebration.
