COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - A Council Bluffs man is sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison for a federal drug case that included meth trafficking and carrying a firearm while trafficking.
Court records show that Dalton Dukes was responsible for 20 to 25 pounds of meth in a three month period in 2018. He was sentenced on Wednesday.
WOWT 6 News reports that Dukes is also accused in the murder of Joseph Hellman. Prosecutors say in January of 2019, someone sold a friend of Dukes' fake meth. Dukes tracked the man down, Hellman, and killed him in Omaha.
Hellman was reported missing on February 21, 2019 to Council Bluffs Police. Investigators believe that Hellman was killed on January 29th of 2019. Prosecutors say Dukes admitted to shooting Hellman. Witnesses say they saw Dukes leave a home with a body.
