The Whiteside County Health Department has reported its first COVID-19 coronavirus related death.
The person was in their 90's and had previously tested positive for the coronavirus. The health department says they are currently monitoring the individual's close contacts for any symptoms.
Earlier this week, the health department announced that two people have tested positive in the county, but after an investigation one of those cases was determined to not be a Whiteside County resident. This is the second laboratory confirmed positive case in the county with an incorrect address, with both tests being performed at an out of county location.
The Whiteside County Health Department asks providers conducting testing, to verify that they have an individual's correct address at the time of testing.
