DAVENPORT, Iowa - Police have arrested a man and woman they say are connected to a series of holdups at Quad Cities convenience stores.
Officers say they spotted a white Cadillac Monday night that fit the description of the getaway car in the robberies. When they tried to pull the car over, police say the driver, 52-year-old T Wayne Allen of Davenport took off at high speed on residential streets. Police say Allen ran a stop sign and a motorcyclist smashed into the car, sending the rider to the hospital with several broken ribs and a shattered clavicle. They say Allen kept going, with officers ending the pursuit by deliberately hitting the Cadillac with a squad car, disabling the Cadillac.
Davenport Police say 27-year-old Dybreona Pollard of Silvis worked with Allen, robbing Smokin Joe's on Locust Street last Saturday night, QC Mart on Eastern Avenue Sunday evening, and QC Mart on East 53rd later the same Sunday night.
In all the holdups, police say Pollard wore a black stocking cap and say she was aggressive in demanding cash, and either suggested she had a gun, or in one case showed the cashier what looked like the handle of a gun in her waistband.
KWQC-TV 6 reports the couple got a total of about $500 dollars in cash in the series of holdups.
