The city of Davenport says the Davenport Hotel building at 324 Main St. is safe for people after debris fell from the building Tuesday afternoon.
A structural engineer inspected the building and says the building is safe for residents. The building owner was on site making the necessary repairs to the building.
The city closed the southbound lane of Main Street between 3rd and 4th streets and the southernmost lane of West 4th Street for the repairs.
It's not known if the damage was related to the derecho on Aug. 10. The six-story building was built in 1907.
