The Three Victims Killed In A Boating Accident In NE Iowa Identified

(Bellvue, IA) -- An investigation is underway after three people were killed in boating accident on the Mississippi River in Northeast Iowa.

The Department of Natural Resources says three men were fishing near Bellevue, in a restricted area beneath Lock and Dam No. 12.

According to the DNR the boat got caught in a strong backflow current and capsized.

The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Mitchell Thomson of Stanwood, IA, 40-year-old Nicholas Thompson of Tipton, IA, and 61-year-old Kirk Stout of Marion.
