(Iowa) -- Raising a child in Iowa is getting more expensive.
A new national study from LendingTree examined the cost of raising a child over 18 years in all 50 states. In Iowa, it costs more than $234,414 to raise a child to age 18. However, Iowa is one of the cheaper states, coming in at 15th least expensive. Nationally, the cost of raising a child is up 25.3% since 2023 to $297,674.
The annual costs of child rearing nationwide is up 35.7% since 2023 to $29,419. Hawaii is the most expensive state in the country in which to raise a child for 18 years, while Mississippi ranks as the least expensive.
