(Cedar Falls, IA) -- The University of Northern Iowa's Army R-O-T-C program will remain open, reversing a Pentagon decision from this summer to shut it down.
Under a revised plan, the program will operate as an extension of the University of Iowa's R-O-T-C program. U-N-I officials say the most important outcome is that cadets can still complete all four years of their training on the Cedar Falls campus.
The original deactivation order was part of a nationwide plan to reduce the military's civilian workforce.
