(Iowa) -- The Iowa Secretary of State is reminding Iowans of the deadline to request absentee ballots ahead of election day.

The Secretary of State's office says written applications for absentee ballots must be received by the county auditor's office by 5pm on Monday, October 20th. Absentee ballot request forms can also be downloaded directly from the Iowa Secretary of State's website.

To request an absentee ballot, voters must provide:

  • Date of birth
  • Iowa residential address
  • Iowa driver's license number or Non-Operator ID number or four-digit PIN found on Iowa Voter ID card
  • Name or date of the election for which a voter is requesting the absentee ballot
  • Signature and date of form completion

A voter's email or phone number is encouraged but not required. All registered voters are eligible to request an absentee ballot, and all absentee ballots must be returned to county auditor's office by 8pm on Election Day, November 4th. Absentee ballots can be returned in-person to the county
