This weekend is the peak for fall colors in Central Iowa, according to the DNR.
They divide the fall color regions from west to east, like a belt through the middle third of Iowa.
Maple trees are peaking with bright scarlet red and orange.
Hickory trees are yellow, and oak trees can be red or purple.
