(Rock Island, IL) -- The bill passed by Congress to end the government shutdown also included funds that will be used for expansion on the Rock Island Arsenal.

The Military Construction funding bill includes $4.25-million for a New Weapons Quality Assurance/Calibration Facility for the Arsenal's Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center.

An additional $5-million will be used to build a new annex to expand the JMT's limited forging area.

A press release says the expansion will support a wide array of weapon systems across all of the services.
