Nearly sixty years after the remains were found, authorities have identified the "Geneseo John Doe" as 19-year-old Ronald Cole of Filmore, California.
He had been missing since 1965, and the remains were discovered in a creek southwest of Geneseo in October of 1966.
The FBI says Cole was shot to death.
He was living with his half-brother at the time of his disappearance, who law enforcement named as a suspect, but he was never charged.
