(Ames, IA) -- The Ames Police Department is releasing the names of the victims of a double homicide.
Police say 26 year-old Markasia McCuddin and 1 year-old Liam Sanders-McCuddin died after police responded to reports of a stabbing Friday evening at 3917 Tripp Street in Ames. Officers found both victims at the scene suffering from stab wounds. While police and medics attempted life-saving treatment, both victims were later pronounced dead. Police arrested Markasia' McCuddin's brother, 27 year-old Davontrez McCuddin of Fort Dodge, who's been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public, and the investigation remains ongoing.
