Nexstar-TEGNA Deal Will See WQAD Join WHBF Family Of Stations

(Moline, IL) -- A deal that will see four Quad Cities TV stations fall under single ownership is being approved.

The FCC and Department of Justice are approving the $6.2-billion sale of TEGNA to Nexstar Media Group.

The combined company will own 265 TV stations in 44 states reaching 70-percent of U.S. households.

Locally, Nexstar owns WHBF, Fox 18 and The CW, while TEGNA owns WQAD News 8.

None of the local stations are among the six Nexstar has agreed to sell to comply with local ownership rules.
