(Springfield, IL) -- Homeowners in the Illinois Quad Cities could see a $25-per-month increase in their gas and electric rates.

The Illinois Commerce Commission is reviewing a rate hike request from MidAmerican Energy.

Under the plan, electric rates would rise by about $18 per-month and gas rates by about $6 per-month by 2028.

It could be a year before the Commission makes a decision on the request.
