100 Rock Island Arsenal Civilian Workers Losing Their Jobs

(Rock Island, IL) -- A merger of two commands on the Rock Island Arsenal will cost 100 civilian workers their jobs.

The Joint Munitions Command which distributes munitions for the armed forces is being merged with the Army Sustainment Command responsible for ensuring the Army has the equipment it needs.

The merger is part of an Army Matching Command Process--an extension of last year's DOGE reduction of the federal government workforce.

The union says some workers will be offered other jobs. The rest, and those who don't accept other positions, will be considered surplus.
