(Iowa City, IA) -- An Iowa advocacy group is offering a dollar-off for motorists filling-up at the gas pump today.
Americans for Prosperity Iowa is holding the event at Fast Break Phillips 66 on Naples Avenue SW in Iowa City from 11am to 1:30pm today.
The goal is to help drivers with high gas prices, and encourage them to contact Republican lawmakers to stop a plan to raise the gas tax in the state.
GOP legislators are working with Governor Kim Reynolds to hike the gas tax to make up for revenue the state will lose if it passes a property tax reduction bill.
Americans for Prosperity has other $1-dollar-off per gallon events planned across the state.
