(Rock Island, IL) -- Around 700 MidAmerican customers in Rock Island were without power for several hours after thunderstorms swept through the Quad Cities early this morning.

They're the first in a series of rain events this week that will bring the first serious moisture to the area in a while.

Since mid-August, the National Weather Service reports the QCA is short almost 10-inches of rainfall, with only three rain or snow events since December 1st producing 1/2-an-inch of moisture or more.
