(Iowa) -- New data show Iowans have little in interest in carpooling.
An analysis of data from Google Keyword Planner collected last month in all 50 states looked at searches for carpooling and related keywords, then ranked each state based on the number of searches per 100 thousand residents. In March of 2026, there were 500 searches for carpooling or related keywords in Iowa. Iowa ranked in the bottom 10, 40th on the list overall, with 15.4 searches for carpooling per 100k residents.
The data looked for searches for the following terms:
- carpooling
- carpool near me
- carpool apps
- carpool lanes
- carpool programs
- carpool benefits
- carpool incentives
- carpool services
- carpool groups
Virginia came in at the top of the list with 134.1 searches for carpooling or carpooling related terms per 100k residents. Idaho ranks as the state with the fewest searches for carpooling, with 11.8 searches per 100k residents.
