(Iowa) -- Home sales dropped nationwide last month, except in Iowa, where there was a six percent increase compared to a year ago.

While interest rates remain high, it didn't keep buyers away.

"We have buyers out there that are waiting for listings to come on. So, even if rates are up a little bit now, which they're just over six percent, when they come back down they can refinance over time, " said Les Sulgrove of the Iowa Realtors.

Sulgrove says inventory of homes for sale also increased by 15-percent statewide in March compared to the same time in 2025.

The statewide median price for a home in Iowa is $250,000.
