(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowans are bracing for more severe weather Friday.

National Weather Service Meterologist Dillon Dotson says the storms will develop during the afternoon and evening.

He adds the storms will be part of a cold front that moves through central Iowa along Interstate-35 and move into the southern and eastern parts of the state.

The threats include damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes and flash flooding.

Dodson suggests having several sources to receive updated weather alerts and be prepared to take cover in a basement or interior room.
