(Iowa City, IA ) -- Police are searching for a 17‑year‑old from Cedar Rapids in connection with a shooting Sunday night in downtown Iowa City.
Investigators say a large fight broke out in the Pedestrian Mall, and during the chaos, five people were shot. One of those victims remains hospitalized.
Prosecutors say Damarian Marshawn Jones is facing multiple charges, including five counts of attempted murder, five counts of willful injury, and one count of going armed with intent.
Iowa City Police Chief Dustin Liston says Jones obtained a gun from another person and fired into a crowd. Authorities say the victims were not specifically targeted.
University officials say there will be increased security presence downtown in the wake of the shooting.
