(Waterloo, Iowa) -- A former Waterloo police officer has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for his role in a deadly motorcycle crash that killed his girlfriend.
Keaton Northup was sentenced Friday for a June 2024 crash on Interstate 380 that claimed the life of Jenna Mills.
Investigators say Northup was driving more than 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash and had a blood alcohol concentration more than three times the legal limit.
Northup was not charged until June of 2025, roughly a year after the crash. He later pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle and operating while intoxicated earlier this month.
Court records show he received 10 years for homicide by vehicle and an additional one year for an OWI, to be served consecutively.
