(Iowa) -- The state of Iowa's lawsuit against popular online game platform Roblox can move forward.
The Iowa District Court for Polk County denied Roblox's attempt to dismiss the case, allowing the consumer fraud lawsuit to continue. The lawsuit argues that Roblox lacks sufficient parental controls and knowingly misrepresented the amount of violent and adult content on its platform to secure lower age ratings on various app stores. The suit further argues that Roblox falsely claims promise a safety review for all content, creating a false sense of security among parents. The court rejected the company's claim that its platform should not be considered "merchandise" since its games are free to play.
State of Iowa v. Roblox Corporation will proceed in Polk County.
