(Springfield, IL) -- Illinois residents could soon see smaller insurance rate increases.
Governor JB Pritzker says he will happily sign two bills into law that would allow the Illinois Insurance Department to regulate insurance rates.
The bills prevent insurance companies from setting excessive, inadequate, or unfairly discriminatory rates based on things like credit scores and zip codes.
Insurance companies must also prove they aren't passing on losses suffered in other states to Illinois customers.
