(Iowa) -- The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is reporting the state's first measles case of the year.
Iowa HHS says the case has been confirmed in a vaccinated resident of central Iowa. The person is an adult and acquired the infection during international travel. HHS has identified locations where the infected person visited while contagious, all of which are in central and north central Iowa. Those dates and locations include:

- Dollar General (1428 E Ovid Avenue, Des Moines) from 7:30pm - 9:45pm
- Family Dollar (1251 University Ave, Des Moines) from 8pm-10:30pm
- Thursday, July 2nd
- MercyOne Des Moines Pediatrics Urgent Care (330 Laurel St Suite 2100, Des Moines) from 3pm - 5:30pm
- MercyOne Des Moines Imaging, Outpatient Radiology (1111 6th Ave, Des Moines) from 3:45pm - 6:45pm
- Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal Church (3848 14th St, Des Moines) from 7:30pm - 11:30 pm
- Friday, July 3rd
- Casa De Restauracion (821 Seneca St, Webster City) from 7:30pm - 9:30pm
- Kwik Star (505 Fair Meadow Dr, Webster City) from 7:30pm - 9:30pm
- Saturday, July 4th
- Under Armour Factory House (771 Bass Pro Dr NW Suite 225, Altoona) from 5am - Noon

HHS says anyone present at those locations during the specified times should monitor for measles symptoms for 21 days. Symptoms include fever, cough, red or watery eyes, runny nose, and rash. This is the first case of the measles confirmed this year. There were 9 confirmed cases of measles in Iowa in 2025.
