(Iowa) -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issues a disaster proclamation for Washington County.

The proclamation is in response to severe storms starting on September 19th and continuing after. The proclamation allows state resources to be used in response and recovery efforts and activates the Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program. The proclamation takes effect immediately and will last for 30 days unless terminated early or extended.

The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program offers up to $7,000 in funds that can be used for car and home repairs, replacing personal property, food, or covering the cost of temporary housing. Qualifying households must have incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level.

The Disaster Case Advocacy Program assigns case advocates to work with clients dealing with the aftermath of natural disasters. The case advocates will help Iowans create a disaster recovery plan and provide guidance and advice throughout the recovery process. The Disaster Case Advocacy Program has no income requirements for eligibility.
