Six Boys Accused Of Stealing Cars After Running From Youth Center

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Six teenage boys ran from Wittenmyer Youth Center in Davenport this morning after assaulting an employee.

KWQC TV6 reports this happened around 3:30 this morning. The boys got a pass card and ran.

Davenport Police received a report of a stolen car on East 15th Street around 5:30 a.m. They found it a half-hour later at Locust Street and Grand Avenue. The vehicle had hit a wall. One of the boys was taken into custody.

Just after 6 a.m., police received another report of a stolen vehicle on East Laurel Street. That vehicle was found around 6:30 and officers tried to stop it at Kimberly Road and Welcome Way. The vehicle then hit a police car and took off. That vehicle was found later near Central Park Avenue and LeClaire Street. Another teen was taken into custody.

At 7:20 a.m., officers saw four teens in the 1900 block of College Avenue. They ran from the officers but two were taken into custody on Carey Avenue.

At 10:20 a.m., police were called to Locust Street and Eastern Avenue after two juveniles were seen asking for rides. Officers took both into custody near Pleasant Court.

All of the boys were identified as those involved in the assault at Wittenmyer.

Two 16 year old boys from Davenport will be charged as adults with robbery, theft and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.

Two 15 year old boys are charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.

A 14 year old boy is charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.

A 12 year old boy is charged with robbery, theft and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.

No serious injuries were reported. Further charges could be filed.
