(Rock Island, IL) -- At least one QCA fire department set a record for emergency calls this year.

The Rock Island Fire Department says they responded to nearly ten-thousand calls, averaging 25 a day.

RIFD leaders say nearly 80-percent of those calls were for medical emergencies.

While the city has hired new staff, RIFD says many of them are still being trained on the medical side of response, a reality of modern day firefighting.
