Davenport party in the park hopes to prevent crime

DAVENPORT, Iowa. - Over a hundred people turn out for a party in Cork Hill Park aimed at preventing crime and getting acquainted with city officials.

The hope is some free food and activities will keep kids busy and out of trouble while making neighborhoods feel safer.

"Anything we can do to increase family fun and activities will in my mind help to improve the overall livability of the neighborhood" explained Lamar Buckelew, President of East Bluff Neighborhood Association.

TV 6 reports the City of Davenport will host seven parties over the summer, the next one coming up at Van Buren Park on June 27th.
