Clinton Man Charged In July Accident That Killed His Wife

CLINTON COUNTY, Iowa - A Clinton man is facing a charge of homicide by vehicle and operating under the influence after a deadly crash in rural Clinton County last July.

KWQC TV6 reports that 26 year old Brandon Clary is being held a $25,000 cash bond and a preliminary hearing is set for March 17th.

The Iowa State Patrol reports the crash happened on July 26, 2019 at around 1:30 p.m. Clary's van was westbound on 292nd Street in Clinton County when the vehicle left the road and rolled. 24 year old Ashley Clary was thrown from the van and died from injuries caused by the crash. .

An affidavit shows Clary was showing signs of drug use at the scene and at a Davenport hospital. Tests showed a controlled substance had been used.

Clary was also ticketed for failure to provide financial liability coverage, failure to maintain a vehicle and driving while under suspension.
