Man charged with attempted murder following Rock Island shooting

(Rock Island, IL) -- A Rock Island man is behind bars, charged with attempted murder following a weekend shooting.

Police say around 2:00 Sunday morning, officers were called to the 900 block of 42nd Avenue for a reported shooting. Investigators say the responding officers found a car parked in the area with a gunshot victim inside. The victim, 40 year old Kelvin Bell, was taken to the hospital before being transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, officers identified 39 year old Devin Johnson as a suspect. Johnson was charged with attempted murder and felony obstruction of justice.
