Dubuque law enforcement warn about fentanyl found in local street drugs

(Dubuque, IA) -- Law enforcement in Dubuque are warning the public about potentially fatal fentanyl pills that are being found in local street drugs.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to not purchase pills from street drug dealers after they have found that pills are being sold as ecstasy or prescription drugs, when instead, they contain Fentanyl. Investigators say fentanyl is a highly dangerous narcotic, a small amount of which can cause an overdose and possibly death.

The sheriff's office says if you or someone you know is addicted to drugs and buying them on the street, they urge you to be very cautious. To get help with drug addiction, contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration here.
