(Iowa) -- The man accused of shooting and killing an Algona police officer last year will go to trial this summer.

Kyle Ricke's trial is set to begin on June 25th. He's being charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Algona Police Officer Kevin Cram in September of last year. Investigators say Ricke fled to Minnesota after the shooting before being arrested later that evening. The trial was originally scheduled for December of 2023, then moved to back to May of 2024 before being pushed back to June 25th.

Ricke is pleading not guilty.
