(Polk County, IA) -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office says a Des Moines man who is on the Sex Offender Registry tried to entice a child, waiting for a school bus this (Tuesday) morning. The Sheriff's Office says the child's mother reported her child was approached near NW 2nd Street and NW 47th Place, south of I-80/35. The Sheriff's Office says the child refused and the man left the area.

A deputy arrived and took the report, and while in the area he observed a male matching the description of the suspect in a vehicle. The deputy pulled over the driver who was identified as 64-year-old Jerry LaBlue, a registered sex offender.

LaBlue was arrested for the following charges: Attempting to Entice a Minor, Iowa Sex Offender Registry Violation 2nd or Subsequence Offense, and OWI.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office say the child is safe and unharmed and the suspect is in custody.
